Houses of Mercy Depot

The HOM Depot is located at the church, Kelowna Christian Center, until an appropriate facility can be found to house the Depot.

- The HOM Depot will operate as a referral and resource center. ALMS Teams (Acts of Love and Mercy Servants) is the name of the volunteers who function out of the HOM Depot

-         One goal is to draw on the many already available resources in our community and city churches.  Our desire is to work together and in unity, help each other in overcoming poverty, homelessness, oppression and many other areas of social skills.

HOM Depot Services:

1.  Counseling and referrals - Pastor Chuck Brewer

 2.  Clothing - Networking with the Adventist Community Services.  Jane R. is overseeing the team of volunteers who regularly assist an already efficiently operating clothing ministry in our local area. Most of our referrals and our clothing and furniture donations are given to this group.

 3.  Food - We have an Emergency Food Bank at the Depot, we also make references to other resources for food. We have a growing network with many helpful resources in the city to assist you in your search to obtain the food as the need arises.

Ie: “The Haven” (located at the Church of the Nazarene, Highway 33).  It is a Coffee House/Drop-in Center for Women with or without children. They meet Tuesday and Wednesday, 9:30am – 1:30pm.

 4.  Freezer Meals - Karolin S. is overseeing a team who will prepare meals. As a pre-requisite these meals are only to be given to people in need who have been referred by a HOM member.

5.  Haircutting - Shari M. oversees a team of volunteers who help to provide haircuts. By referral only.. They also participate with local community events that offer this type of service.

As more churches and volunteers come on board, more services can be made available.
